Alexandra Troy’s main research interest is the energy renovation of historic buildings – developed from her background in electrical engineering with a focus on energy in buildings, her PhD on “Heating Churches – a balance between comfort, cost and environmental protection” and numerous research projects.
She is building up the research group on energy renovation of historic buildings, which is currently led by Daniel Herrera within the Renewable Energy Institute (of which she is deputy head) at Eurac Research in Bozen/Italy.
She was recently the operating agent for the IEA SHC Task59 on Historic Buildings at NZEB and, together with her colleagues, built a laboratory on hygrothermal performance of buildings, a topic of crucial importance for the upcoming energy transition.
At the same time, since 2018 she holds a professorship in Building Simulation Physics at the University of Coburg in Germany and teaches in the Master’s course on Digital Technology in Conservation as well as leading courses for architecture and conservation students.
